The Oblongs. Hand-painted original background used in the animated series! Globocide Nighttime.
All of the backgrounds on my animated series "The Oblongs" were hand painted. Not by me. By people way more talented than I.
When production shut down, I inherited all of the original background paintings! I'll slowly be selling them to you gorgeous people, so keep checking back for more!
This particular background is an exterior establishing shot of where Bob Oblong works, Globocide, where he caps poison bottles with his teeth. Because he doesn't have any arms. Or legs. But he does have a penis! Which he uses frequently on his wife, Pickles.
I love the details on this. Note how the factory and its smoke stacks are so close to residents in the Valley. There's even a house right up against the factory! The background painters were incredibly talented and probably still are! Unless they're dead. Then I suppose they could still be talented somewhere in the afterlife. I mean, who knows, right?
This lovely hand-painted original slice of pop culture is done on a thick board and covered with a clear plastic sheet. Size: 13 1/2" x 10 1/2" And on the back, I tend to write something, telling you what you hold in your chocolate-smudged hands. And I sign it. Even though I didn't paint it.
